Advanced Placement
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a cooperative educational initiative between high schools, colleges, and the College Board. AP courses offer highly motivated students an opportunity to engage in challenging, college-level coursework while still in high school. Research shows that students who take rigorous academic courses are better prepared for college-level work. Many colleges and universities offer credit or advanced placement to students who achieve a qualifying score on an AP exam.
Students taking an AP course are expected to take the AP exam in May.
