At Elkhart High School, we take pride in our talented students and are dedicated to connecting them with meaningful career pathways in the community. Whether their interests lie in finance, healthcare, sales, or even creative fields like tattoo artistry, we are committed to supporting the diverse professional ambitions of our young adults. Elkhart offers a unique environment rich in hands-on learning opportunities, and we strive to build strong relationships with our community partners to provide exceptional internship experiences for both our students and local businesses.

Everwise Intern

Student Benefits

Elkhart High School seniors have the opportunity to participate in internships lasting a semester or the full school year. These hands-on experiences, whether paid or unpaid, allow students to explore career interests, develop workplace etiquette and communication skills, and gain technical expertise. Internships also build confidence, expand professional networks, and provide a competitive edge in the job market.

Workplace Benefits

Employers benefit from hosting interns by gaining extra support with workloads, seasonal projects, or event-specific tasks. Internships enhance a company’s community involvement and reputation while giving staff valuable leadership and mentoring opportunities. Additionally, employers can help shape the education and training of potential future employees.

A Parents Perspective

Participating in Elkhart High School's internship program provided invaluable industry connections and experience to our son. As an intern with Fighting Irish Media, he was able to engage in sports production for the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from EHS, our son entered college this year at Grand Canyon University as a Digital Film Production major. His internship with Fighting Irish Media landed him an immediate job offer with GCU Sports Media, and his professors have expressed how far ahead he is in knowledge and expertise compared with his peers. His EHS internship provided an unmatched experience that will continue to pay dividends for many years to come.

1st Source Bank

I have been working with the work-based learning program at Elkhart High School since about 2018. We have hired several students since then, and all of them have been excellent performers here at 1st Source Bank.

This has been a partnership. Lauren Schmidt has listened to our needs as a company and has delivered outstanding students to us.

I love this partnership and look forward to interviewing students annually from Lauren.
