What is the Philharmonic Orchestra?
The Philharmonic Orchestra is an auditioned String Orchestra at Elkhart High School. 

How does a student get involved in Philharmonic Orchestra?
Students earn a spot in the Philharmonic Orchestra through a competitive audition process. The prerequisite is Beginning or Intermediate Orchestra.

When does the Philharmonic Orchestra practice?
The Philharmonic Orchestra practices during the school day.

Does the Philharmonic Orchestra perform for the community?
The Philharmonic Orchestra performs five times throughout the year, including the String Festival, Winter Celebration Concert, ISSMA Preview Concert, ISSMA Festival, and the Senior Concert.

Does the Philharmonic Orchestra compete in music competitions?
No. The Philharmonic Orchestra performs annually at the ISSMA High School Organization Festival, which is a non-competitive event.

Director Bio:
Ms. Yoder joined the Elkhart Community Schools orchestra program in the fall of 2012. She is a 2012 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University with a Bachelors of Music Education (B.M.E.). In addition to teaching orchestra at West Side Middle School and Elkhart Memorial High School (now Elkhart High School), she is also an active performer on cello with the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra and the Silver Strings Quartet.
