What is the Symphony Orchestra?
The Symphony Orchestra is the premier Orchestral Ensemble at Elkhart High School.
How does a student get involved in Symphony Orchestra?
Students earn a spot in the Symphony Orchestra through a competitive audition process. The prerequisite is Beginning or Intermediate Orchestra.
When does the Symphony Orchestra practice?
The Symphony Orchestra rehearses during the school day, and about ten evenings throughout the school year.
Does the Symphony Orchestra perform for the community?
The Symphony Orchestra performs five or six times throughout the year, including the String Festival, Winter Celebration Concert, ISSMA Preview Concert, ISSMA State Qualification Contest, ISSMA State Finals (must qualify), and the Senior Concert.
Does the Symphony Orchestra compete in music competitions?
Yes. The Symphony Orchestra participates in ISSMA competitions.

Director's Bio:
Mr. Weirich is in his 30th year of teaching instrumental music in the public schools, 17 of which have been at Elkhart Community Schools. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University (B.M. 1993) and VanderCook College of Music (M.M. 1997). He is an active performer with the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra.
