Transportation

Students who drive to school are required to have a parking permit. To obtain a permit, students must complete an application, register their vehicle with the school, and pay a $5 parking fee for the year.

• Paper copies of the application are available in the Student Activities Office in the Student Center.
• Registration can be completed online using the Parking Permit Registration Form.
• After completing both the application and registration, students must pay the $5 fee in the Student Activities Office to receive their parking permit.

Student parking is located west of the EHS main campus building. Parking in front of the main campus is not permitted.

At the beginning of the year, incoming 9th and 10th grade students who are eligible for transportation will receive a letter in the mail with details about their bus route. If you have any questions about bus transportation, please contact the ECS Transportation Department at 574-262-5695. Bus riders load and unload behind (north) the EHS main campus.

Drivers who are dropping off students should turn north onto Crimson Crossing, then behind/around the ETI Building, then between the ETI Building and EHS (students should exit vehicles here). Drivers should then turn right to drive in front of the EHS building, then exit at the driveway west of EHS.

Elkhart High School recognizes the important role that co-curricular and extracurricular activities play in student development. To support students involved in athletics, music, drama, or clubs, shuttle buses run daily between the EHS Main Campus (grades 10-12) and the EHS Freshman Division.

General Shuttle Guidelines

• Students using shuttle buses will not be excused from school early.
• Students must remain in their advisory period at the Main Campus (grades 10-12) and their Impact period at the Freshman Division until dismissal.
• In-season student-athletes have priority on the first shuttle. Overflow shuttles are available but arrive later.
• Shuttle buses are not intended as a normal bus route home.

Freshman Division to Main Campus (10-12) Shuttle

• Freshmen must wait on the sidewalk to the far west of the bus line in front of the Freshman Division building.
• Bus 5, the first shuttle, arrives between 3:50 and 3:55 p.m. and reaches the Main Campus around 4:10 p.m., dropping off at Door 12.
• Bus 98, the overflow shuttle, will be parked next to Bus 5 and will leave after Bus 5 has departed.

Main Campus (10-12) to Freshman Division Shuttle

• Students must report to Door 16 by the weight room.
• Bus 148, the first shuttle, arrives between 4 and 4:10 p.m., dropping off at Rice Field and the Freshman Division between 4:15 and 4:25 p.m.
• Bus 5, the overflow shuttle, picks up students between 4:10 and 4:15 p.m., dropping off at Rice Field and the Freshman Division between 4:25 and 4:30 p.m.
